WriteValueAction<TValue>(UADataVariable,UANodeId,IReadOnlyList<Int32>,Action<TValue>) Method

OpcLabs.ServerOpcUA Assembly > OpcLabs.EasyOpc.UA.NodeSpace Namespace > UADataVariableExtension Class > WriteValueAction Method : WriteValueAction<TValue>(UADataVariable,UANodeId,IReadOnlyList<Int32>,Action<TValue>) Method
The data variable that will be modified and returned.

The value of this parameter cannot be null (Nothing in Visual Basic).

Specifies the OPC UA data type of the variable value. For standard data types, see OpcLabs.EasyOpc.UA.AddressSpace.Standard.UADataTypeIds.

Because the OpcLabs.EasyOpc.UA.AddressSpace.UANodeId has an implicit conversion from System.String, in languages that support implicit conversion operators (such as C# or VB.NET), you can simply use a string (representing the expanded text of the nodeId) in place of this parameter, and the corresponding OPC UA node Id will be constructed automatically. When the implicit conversion operators are not supported (such as with Python.NET), you can use the OpcLabs.EasyOpc.UA.AddressSpace.UANodeId.UANodeId Constructor(String) constructor instead.

The value of this parameter cannot be null (Nothing in Visual Basic).

The size of each dimension of the array value.

The value of this parameter cannot be null (Nothing in Visual Basic).

The write value action, i.e. the action that accepts the value to be written and performs the write operation.

The value of this parameter cannot be null (Nothing in Visual Basic).

Makes data variable that consumes the attribute data using the write value action. Specify the data type Id, and array dimensions list.

Parameters

dataVariable
The data variable that will be modified and returned.

The value of this parameter cannot be null (Nothing in Visual Basic).

dataTypeId

The value of this parameter cannot be null (Nothing in Visual Basic).

arrayDimensionList
The size of each dimension of the array value.

The value of this parameter cannot be null (Nothing in Visual Basic).

writeValueAction
The write value action, i.e. the action that accepts the value to be written and performs the write operation.

The value of this parameter cannot be null (Nothing in Visual Basic).

Type Parameters

TValue

Return Value

Returns the dataVariable, internally modified as defined by the method.

This method never returns null (Nothing in Visual Basic).

Exceptions
ExceptionDescription

A null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic) is passed to a method that does not accept it as a valid argument.

This is a usage error, i.e. it will never occur (the exception will not be thrown) in a correctly written program. Your code should not catch this exception.

Remarks

The type used in your code to implement the data variable behavior is TValue, and it can be different from the OPC data type specified by the dataTypeId parameter. OPC Wizard provides automatic value conversions. This can be useful in case your language makes it more difficult to process some .NET types, as is the case e.g. with VB.NET and unsigned integer types such as System.UInt32. In this case, for example, if you want a data variable of OPC type UInt32, you can set dataTypeId to OpcLabs.EasyOpc.UA.AddressSpace.Standard.UADataTypeIds.UInt32, but use a System.Int64 as the type of your action argument (TValue).

The array dimensions are specified as a list of integers, one for each dimension. Each element represents a dimension of the array, and the value of the element represents the maximum size of the array in that dimension. If the maximum size of certain dimension is unknown, the value of corresponding element is 0.

The specified array dimensions will be stored in the ArrayDimensions property, and exposed to OPC UA clients via the OpcLabs.EasyOpc.UA.UAAttributeId.ArrayDimensions attribute. In addition, OPC Wizard will enforce the maximum array bounds automatically (where the specified array dimension is not 0).

This is an extension method (info: C#, VB.NET). In languages that have support for extensions methods (such as C# and VB.NET), you can use the extension method as if it were a regular method on the object that is its first parameter. In other languages (such as with Python.NET), you will call the extension as a static method, and pass it the object on which it acts as its first parameter.
